Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti Famicom Gameplay

About This Video

Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti on the Nintendo Famicom is a bizarre 1989 Japan-exclusive spin-off that transforms Namco's arcade horror series into a strange horror-comedy parody filled with super-deformed characters, cartoon violence, movie monster tributes, and late-1980s pop culture references. Developed by Now Production and published under the NAMCOT label, it stands out as one of the most unique titles released during the final years of the Famicom era.

This version reimagines protagonist Rick in a humorous chibi-style world inspired by classic horror films and pop culture including Michael Jackson's Thriller, The Exorcist, zombies, ghosts, and other monster-themed parodies. Despite its lighter tone, the gameplay still delivers challenging platforming, action sequences, and memorable boss encounters.

Gameplay is captured directly from original Nintendo Famicom hardware using composite video output from the Backoffice POWER VAMP V5 power supply and AV replacement board. Recording was handled through a Panasonic DMR-ES46V to preserve the authentic look and feel of real Famicom gameplay.

Originally released only in Japan, Wanpaku Graffiti later gained recognition among import gamers and was re-released internationally as part of Namco Museum Archives Vol. 1 in 2020. For fans of retro horror games, Famicom imports, and Namco history, this remains one of the most fascinating entries in the Splatterhouse series.
