The three minutes of footage is comprised of over 7,000 individual photos, and if you’re wondering, the games in order are Kirby’s Adventure, Contra, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man 2, and Super Mario Bros.

To play the game, go to google.com during the next 48 hours (because it’s too cool to keep for just one day) and either press the “Insert Coin” button or just wait for a few seconds.

Google doodler Ryan Germick and Marcin Wichary made sure to include PAC-MAN’s original game logic, graphics and sounds, bring back ghosts’ individual personalities, and even recreate original bugs from this 1980′s masterpiece.

They also added a little easter egg: if you throw in another coin, Ms. PAC-MAN joins the party and you can play together with someone else (PAC-MAN is controlled with arrow keys or by clicking on the maze, Ms. PAC-MAN using the WASD keys).

Update: Google Pac-Man lives on forever.

In closing, to wrap up my May 9th, 2010 post, I want to say “happy Mother’s day” to moms all around the world.

If only Capcom, Nintendo and Konami could work out the licensing details and produce a game like this… man… I would so buy it.

In the last 37 seconds of the auction, things really started to pop. It was at $14,000.00 USD with 48 bids, then kaboom! It jumps from $14,600.00 to $31,600.00 USD with 52 bids for this CIB Air Raid cartridge.

There are not too many of the Air Raid cartridges still around today and this is the only known one complete in box. According to various sources, there are only 13 Air Raid cartridges known to still be around after all these years.

I clearly remember buying this game back in 1984 or 1985. My mother had taken me to a Tuesday Morning store in Arlington Texas. It was near the corner of Arkansas Lane and Medline Drive. Not too long after I purchased it, I got an Atari 800 and stopped playing the 2600. Since then, the Air Raid cartridge has been boxed up in my garage along with my 2600 and other games for over 20 years. The game box was stored separately and I just found it. I had no idea that I still had these game boxes.

For those who don’t follow Atari 2600 cartridge collecting, Air Raid is an R10 on the Atari 2600 rarity scale. R1 is super common and R10 is “Unbelievably Rare”.

I wonder who the lucky winner was of this auction? I’m sure we’ll hear more about it in the coming days on major internet new sources.

Now that the holidays are upon us it’s only appropriate to have some video game themed Christmas music to rock around the Christmas tree.

This album 100% inspired by games. It’s Rush Coil’s “8-bit Christmas”:

I was sad to see it only comes in a sleeve and not a hard shell case like normal 360 games, but for free I really can’t complain.

It did come with a letter from Kai Huang, the founder of Guitar Hero and a couple promotional posters.

If you want the manual, you can download it from the website. It even says “For Promotional Purposes Only – Not For Resale” on the disc and sleeve which is sort cool.

Anyway, after receiving the game, I pretty much played straight through and finished it for Guitar on medium.

Now I’m in search of other people who have 360′s who also received or will be receiving an early release thanks to the Guitar Hero 5 purchase so we can get some online play going since it will be close to 3 months before the general public gets to play.

Overall I think the game is pretty solid. I am bummed that Michael and Sammy are not in the game or songs from the Hagar era, but again, for what the game is, it’s pretty good.
